Supported Housing

The supported housing is available in Derby and Leicester. The accommodation is designed to house a small group of young people as this helps them to build relationships quicker and creates a homely environment.

Our experienced team is available 24/7 so the young people can get support whenever they need it. This is particularly important for those with complex needs and mental health issues.

The level of support given to each young person varies depending on his or her own individual needs. Looked After Children in transition from care homes usually want to live very independently and the team respect this and are there only as and when needed. Those with more complex needs will get more hands on support.

Every bedroom is a double and has a bed with bedding provided, desk and wardrobe. Everyone can choose how to decorate their own bedroom and we encourage them to look after their room to promote a sense of responsibility and ownership.

The communal areas, kitchen, living room and garden are designed to make it easy for the young people to live comfortably and spend time together. There is unlimited Wi-Fi and Sky TV available.

All the young people are given a voice in the running of the house through house meetings and ‘have your say forums’. Our team ensure a homely environment, which is safe, fun and stimulating.

During their stay the young people will develop many skills, which will help them to live independently in the future. Our team will give guidance on budgeting, cooking, behaviour management, communications skills, and personal hygiene. They will also help them to access local opportunities and services. If they are looking for a job they will help build employability skills.
